The version you couldn't shrink
The Spark:
This one came from a place of stubborn fire. It's named The Version you Couldn't Shrink because it's about pushing back when people (or even yourself) try to box you in, quiet you down, or make you smaller.
The Base:
I started with a soft wash of pinks and peaches - deceptively delicate, like skin blushing. But even here, it wasn't about softness. It was grounding. A reminder that power can wear colour.
The Playful Start:
I threw down those flat orange and pink florals, almost cartoon like. It looks sweet, maybe too sweet. But that's the trap - the expectation that feminine = fragile.
The Messy Middle:
This is where the chaos crept in. Scribbles, outlines, overlaps. I let flowers crowd each other, almost competing for the space. It was overwhelming, busy and I loved that tension.
The Shift:
My favourite part, the palette knives - Bold petals carved out in thick texture, unapologetically layered over everything else. They were louder, sharper, and impossible to ignore. Every stroke felt like a "not this time".
The Details:
Tiny dots, hidden marks, wild scribbles tucked between the big blooms, because through creating this piece I learnt the quiet details are the loudest.
The Full Bloom:
By the end, the canvas was unapologetically crowded, dense and alive. A garden that refused to prune almost.
The Message:
This painting isn't whispering. It's not asking permission. It's proof that you can bloom anyway - in colour, in chaos, in your own volume.
